Attention: In the effort to reduce spread of COVID-19, the FASTEnER Lab has instituted the following policies:

Lab hours and capacity have been reduced. You must reserve a time outside of class periods to use the space and equipment. See the Make A Reservation and Reserve Equipment pages to select an available time for lab use.

Physical distancing is required. You must stay at least 6 feet apart from other people whenever possible.

Masks are required at all times in the lab, and must cover the mouth AND nose when worn. If you are unable to use a mask due to a need for accommodations, contact a lab manager to find an alternate solution.

No eating is allowed in the lab. You may drink water for brief periods but your mask must stay on when you are not drinking.

All tools and equipment must be sanitized after use. Wipes, hand sanitizer, and some cleaning supplies are available for you to use

Fine Art, Science, Technology, Engineering, Educational Resource Lab
The lab is a multifaceted interdisciplinary fabrication space, geared towards the exploration of arts, science, engineering and technology. Run within the department of Contemporary Art and Theater at Shepherd University, this space offers the ability for students and faculty to work with a variety of materials in a variety of processes. Housed in room 125 and 126 of The CCA II Art building, the lab is open to all students, faculty and staff who have have completed a safety and operational workshop. The lab provides limited materials and consumables to students who are enrolled in art and theater classes. The shop is open Daily with hours rotating on a Semester to Semester basis. The facility is overseen by instructors are available to advise users on method, material and technique for individual projects. However, it is necessary to sign up a training workshop before using the equipment. Student monitors work in lab to allow people who have been trained on equipment to use the space after hours.
