Reservation Rules

Laser

• Only those who have taken the laser training class can use the laser.
• Have your settings checked before running the laser.
• A maximum of 1 hour at a time can be reserved at a time and  2 hours a day per person.
• Projects requiring more time must be approved by an instructor or lab manager.
• A minimum of a 1-hour gap must be between reserving consecutive blocks of time.
• Your time includes set up on the laser, computer, and cleanup.
• A person cannot leave the laser; the laser will be paused if nobody is watching it. Your time will not be extended if you leave the laser and your cut/ engraving is not finished.

Lulzbot Taz 6 & Makerbot

• Before reserving a 3D printer estimate the print time in the slicing software. Be sure to multiple this number by 1.5 to give yourself a buffer
• Prints over 6 hours long should be started at the end of the day for overnight printing.
• Prints over 12 hours need to be approved by a shop manger or instructor
• You must stay with the 3D printer for the first 30 minutes of the print and continually check it through out the printing process.
• For experimental forms or materials you must stay with the 3D printer the complete time.

CNC Router

• Only those with proper training can sign up to reserve the CNC router.
• Your time includes set up on the router, computer, and cleanup.
• Block out your requested time and initial within that area.
• You must have your completed and signed work sheet.
• USB drive with your .nc file ready to go.
• You must wear
  • Closed toed shoes
  • Long pants
  • Safety Glasses
• If any of these rules are not followed you will forfeit your time slot.
• A person cannot leave the CNC Router; the machine will be turned off if nobody is watching it.

CNC Plasma

• Only those with proper training can sign up to reserve the CNC router.
• Your time includes set up on the plasma, computer, and cleanup
• You must have your completed work sheet.
• USB drive with your .fgc file ready to go.
• You must wear
  • Boots
  • Long sleeves and long pants of all natural fibers
  • High temperature gloves
  • Safety Glasses
• If any of these rules are not followed you will forfeit your time slot.
• A person cannot leave the plasma CNC; the machine will be turned off if nobody is watching it.

Oculus Rift S VR Headset

• A maximum of 2 hours at a time can be reserved at a time and 4 hours a day per person. 
• Projects requiring more time must be approved by an instructor or lab manager. 
• A minimum of a 1-hour gap must be between reserving consecutive blocks of time. 
• The VR headset is to be used in the lab and cannot leave. If you are faculty wishing to use the headset outside of the lab please confirm this with a lab manager.

Please note that equipment must be reserved at least 6 hours in advance.
